Keeping my Hair Smelling Nice

Since I am using herbal shampoo and conditioner most of the time, and noticed that their scents are just so mild, that during the later part of the day, I am not confident anymore of how my hair smells. I needed to find a hair cologne. It's not easily available, I had to look from different beauty shops, and was so glad to finally find one from the Face Shop. They've got only one variant though, but, better than not finding at all. Besides, it's one of my favorite scents at the moment: Cherry Blossom.

It has a refreshing scent that I love. I just feel confident everytime I spray this on my crowning glory. I can re-spray it, whenever I need to.

My ThrowbackThursday Entry

I don't usually have a regular entry for #throwbackThursday, it only depends on my mood. I have to check and search for old photos whenever I need to. But here's my latest entry:

I got this photo from my old scrapbook ;-)

This was year 1999-2000. Yes, I think I've had this look for a year. But to always look this way, I've had to have a monthly trim. I was only able to save on time and money and on shampoo, but, it was also spending much on its length maintenance and hair oil or gel. But this was literally  almost a wash and wear do, I only had to comb it through my fingers when I was outside, and it was so carefree. One more thing, this brought me a different kind of appeal, as there would few admirers that would make themselves noticed with this look. In fact, during my first date with my hubby now, I've had this look, and he still remembers. See!

Review: Avalon Organics THICKENING SHAMPOO

Who's not scared of having falling hair? I guess, the answer is 'nobody". If you see my hair, it really looks thick, having its natural curl, helps me have that look. But, it just made me worry everytime I see hair on the bathroom drain, which surely comes from me, because it's just me and my 8y/o daughter, Rem, who's in the house most of the time.

Having read on a lifestyle and fashion section of a local newspaper, I learned about Avalon Organics Thickening Shampoo. The moment I found this at Healthy Options, I never hesitate to buy one for myself. Yes, this is my very first bottle, in 414mL. I've been using this for a little over a month yet, and I can say, that it is really effective. I don't see much hair on our bathroom floor anymore. The product description says: fortified with biotin, saw palmetto, wheat protein and vitamin E for am energized scalp and thicker, fuller hair. It also contains 70% organic content...safe, effective, certified, natural hair care without synthetic fragrances, phthalates, harh sulfates or parabens and PH balanced. Wow, is this for real? For someone like me, who supports beauty products that are natural, I was so happy to have found this. It's a worry-free product that I felt like I deserved a pat on my back for having found the right one for my hair and scalp.

At the back, there's a note also of what it does:

  • helps build body in fine thinning hair
  • stimulates scalp to encourage hair growth
  • cleans and nourishes hair from follicle through entire shaft
  • strengthens hair strands
  • boosts volume so hair feels thicker and softer

If you're having the same hair problem like I've had, this is the answer.

What's Your Fonda?

When it comes to make-up foundation, it always reminds me of how important it is on a make-up, that I can't help but compare it to relationships. Why? In every relationship, foundation is the most important part, it measures if it's going to last or not.

Having been fortunate to have been able to attend a training on make-up application at my previous work, I've always been into liquid foundation. I use two brands depending on where I'm going, but for now, I'll share about the other brand which is Maybelline. I love their Clear Smooth Gel foundation. The other one will come in another post. I like this fonda because it lessens my facial blemishes, it's lasting, non-oily and cheaper (less than P300) than the other brands in the market. But the trick is also on the sponge that we use, the triangular sponges are better according to the make-up artist because the fonda gets evenly applied especially even on the edges of the face...Have you tried this type and brand of foundation? And the sponge? If you're looking for a best buy, this will do.

Lips: Shape, Color and Beyond

I was watching Gandang Gabi Vice on a Sunday night where one of the guests was Anne Curtis. I still remember when she was asked if she’s got any (physical) insecurities, and she gamely replied that before it was her lips, but thanks to Angelina Jolie. Wow, therefore she’s got no insecurities anymore and it really shows. Yes, these two women have full lips, but to me, they just look a lot sexier with it even when they’re wearing deep red lip color.

Well, for me, it’s not just the lips but there is definitely something more about it. Watching them talk, they just look a lot better, so it’s also a lot of about how they sound and how they look when the words are coming out from those very famous lips. Being a big fan of these two women and a bit-of-a-collector of lip sticks and glosses, I also wear deep red sometimes, and it’s hubby-approved (LOL) so no worries. How do I look? Not as pretty as these two celebrities, but since it’s pre-approved, I think it’s not as bad, and when it comes to how it appears when I open my mouth, believe me, I used to read and talk in front of the mirror just to see how everything looks. No one has told me to shut up, so I’m taking it as an okay hahah…With the red lipstick, it’s really different, liberating I should say. So, why not try it, too?

Brick Red for Nail Color

I was in college when I tried on having a nail polish. My inspiration? None other than Ms. Jolina Magdangal. I just thought that striking colors like, yellow, shades of blue were really fun then, and something that made me looked younger than my age. Until now, I am still into deep striking colors except when I am going to attend a formal event like weddings. As of the moment, my top pick among nail polish shades would be “brick red”. Unfortunately, I don’t get manicured often these days due to mommy duties. But just to give you an idea how this color looks like, I got my niece, Charisse, as my model:-) Thanks to her!

The color looks like a red combined with a little bit of black. With this shade, I basically like it on any skin color, whether you’ve got fair complexion or not.

VCO-based Lip Balm

I am one person that is so lip-balm addict. Well, that’s because I’m not gifted with red, supple lips and a lip balm relieves my dry lips a lot. Good thing I learned this VCO-based, (yes, it’s virgin coconut oil) lip balm from GIGA Natural Products.

According to its literature on its packaging, it contains: VCO, beeswax, shea butter, orange oil, honey and vitamin E. This answers why I just love it, especially it’s orangey scent.

Body Shop's Cheek and Lip Tint

I must admit that I am such a make-up lover, but I want to look as natural as possible. For me, Body Shop’s Cheek and Lip Tint is good for my natural look. This was on sale at 50% off when I visited Gateway Mall so I did not think twice in buying one. I’ve always liked this, but find it really expensive, but, thanks to my regular make-up supply from my big sister, Loida (again):-), that an absence of this had been substituted well with Clinique’s powder blushers.

What I like much about this is it’s cheek tint effect. The tint is easy to control from dark red to a lighter shade. The trick is right in your fingertips. How do I do it? I just put a little of the liquid, let it set for 3-seconds and spread it on my cheek gently and even more gentle if I want it lighter. With this, I don’t also need to put foundation and even powder (pressed or loose) on my face every time I’m going to apply this. This works so well even right after my facial moisturizer. It really is a light make-up with natural look which is perfect for an ordinary day look outside. I don’t really use it for my lips though because it feels dry on it and I still love the moisture feel on a lipstick. That, I’ll be posting about in the future, too.

Loving Emma Watson's Hairstyle

Who doesn’t know her? Not me! If you’re a fan of Harry Potter the movie, you will surely remember this talented young actress with such a pretty face. During the first movie, she was still a kid, and I just love how she’s become. She’s even grown prettier and whatever hairstyle she’ll have will surely look good on her. But, among her dos, it’s her fresh pixie cut that I loved the most.

I used to have my hair really short during summer, and it really felt good. So easy to take care of, with just a hair crème and I’m off to go. I just had to go to the salon once a month to keep it in style. I also made sure to put on make-up and a pair of studs for a girly feel. Though I like my long curly hair these days, I just find women in short hair brave and really sexy just like Emma. How about you, what hairstyle do you prefer, long or short?
